The Milestone

This week we had a huge milestone at our house.  The big guy read his first book.  What an amazing thing it has been to teach someone to read for the very first time.  He is very excited about this new ability, which is exactly what we want.  My husband and I both LOVE to read and we feel it is very important for our kids as well.  Just think of all things available to someone who has the ability and desire to read.  It is truly a whole new world out there!  So, on to making sure I’m putting good quality reading materials into his hands, for he has a VERY hungry mind.

  1. Grace was so excited about this. It was amazing to see how the world changed for Grace once she really started to read. It is a big challenge to find good stuff to read. Be careful not to just go by book lists because we have found that they are not always as conservative as we are. I like stuff written by Menonites because you can’t get much more conservative than that. You just have to be careful of legalism.I have a set of readers from Rod and Staff that you can borrow if your interested.
