Just Being Here

July 3, 2007

I just read an interview with the ladies over at Girltalk for their new book, Shopping For Time.  In the interview (which you can find thru Tim Challies’ site) Carolyn Mahaney made a point that really hit home with me.  She talked about mommys with little ones and how sometimes we can underestimate the impact that “just being there” has on our kids.  Taking care of their daily, recurring needs and just living with them is huge.  I often forget that changing the diapers over and over, making breakfast, lunch and dinner, bathing, watching, keeping safe, cuddling, being in the same house, correcting, teaching - all these things are an expression of my love and devotion to my children, my husband, and my Lord.  I don’t have to be the most exciting with the best ideas; just being here is loving them.  Thank you Lord!
