Elizabeth Prentiss

December 30, 2006

This will be quick, but I wanted to jot some things down before my fleeting thoughts take flight.  I just finished a biography on Elizabeth Prentiss.  It was a great book on the woman who penned the hymn, More Love to Thee.  She lead an inspiring life reminding me to press hard after Jesus.  Her life was plagued with hardship and suffering from the Father’s Hand, unto which she submitted willingly.  There is much more to say about the book and her life, but I’m not feeling fabulous so I’m going to go.  It is a book I highly recommend, and one that I’ll read again and again.  Praise God for those who’ve gone before us!

  3. Hi April,
The book I read is the biography of the author of Stepping Heavenward. After reading about her life I want to get my hands on anything I can that she wrote. She authored some kids stuff too, which I’d like to check out. We would love to get together with you guys. I need to call you.

  5. Steph-

I just picked up the book “Stepping Heavenward” last night and I cannot put it down. I am more than half way through and I am trully blessed by this book. I might have let that book sit on my shelf a few more years. Thanks. My sister-in-law wants to borrow it, I would be glad to lend you the copy after she is done.

  7. LOL, I came over from a friend of your’s blog and just left a comment about this book!

ITA — this book is amazing.

I also have “Aunt Jane’s Hero” and “Little Suzy Stories”, which she authored. Both are excellent, although Stepping Heavenward is, I believe, her best work.

Off to skim through the rest of your blog! :)
