Tummy Troubles

December 11, 2006

My kiddos have the dreaded stomach flu.  Abe got it yesterday morning as Ryan was carrying him to church, and Ben got it around 5am this morning.  I am amazed at these little guys.  It is so sad to see them hurting this way and know there is nothing we can do to make it better.  On the other hand, it’s so neat to see the way they take advantage of the fleeting moment of feeling better with a good laugh, or a little talk.  Abe is always asking questions, so it was so strange to see him yesterday just laying there with a white face, not having energy to ask why.   So, last night when he began asking a few questions it made me happy.  This is not usually the emotion I have when he begins his questioning…but this gave me a new perspective.  I am thankful that he is well enough to throw as many questions as he can at me.  It is such a blessing to have healthy kids that can enjoy life.  There are so many children who are ill and can’t be kids because of it.  So, I am thankful for this stomach flu because it’s helped me to cherish the endless energy they usually have.  It’s a blessing to be able to love on them, and care for them when they’re feeling icky and just want Mommy and Daddy.  I wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to serve them in this way!

  1. I hope your little guys are feeling better and that you and Ryan are well. I will continue to pray that there aren’t any germs hiding and waiting to get you or Ryan on Thursday morning

  2. Kimm, I hope there aren’t any lurking germs awaiting us!!! We really want to hang out with you all on Saturday night, and it wouldn’t be very nice of Ryan to bring any germs to work :-)
