babbling
November 24, 2006My house is quiet right now and I like it. We are watching a friend’s 3 month old for the evening. Right now, all three little boys are resting peacefully. This is a beautiful thing. I get to wake him soon and feed him a bottle while Ryan and I watch a movie. That sounds like fun to me.
We had a very nice Thanksgiving. Brunch in the morning with one set of parents and dinner later in the day with the other set. A full day, but we have so much to be thankful for. Family, friends, health, a home. Yet all these things can be taken, or changed. I am thankful that the ultimate gift, our salvation can never be taken. My relationship to God through Christ will never change. This is where I find true peace and thankfulness. Here, in this life there is much joy and many wonderful blessings. But, there is also much pain, change, and hurt. In the midst of the happiness and sadness I rejoice that we can find comfort, stability, and hope in Him, our Rock.
Thanksgiving Activities for Kiddos
November 21, 2006I was thinking about having a craft for Abe and Ben to do on Thanksgiving. It seems that the triptophan doesn’t seem to affect little guys quite the same way it does us grown-ups. So, I was thinking of cutting out a picture of a turkey without feathers. Then, I will cut out a bunch of feathers and have Abe and Ben (if he gets the idea) write things they’re thankful to the Lord for on the feathers. Then, we can glue the feathers on our turkey. It would be fun, and help them to be thankful. So, if I can get this stuff together and bring it with us this would be an easy thing to do with them. I am usually not a crafty mommy, but I thought it would help my attitude to have a plan that engages them and points to some of the meaning behind this huge meal. I really want to start traditions for our family that point to Christ and give them great family centered memories to look back on.
Everyday Blessings
November 21, 2006Praise the Lord for Donna! Who’s Donna, you ask? Donna is the friendly Vons check-out lady who helped me today. We did our grocery shopping this morning and it was pretty busy with all the people preparing for Thanksgiving. So, we’re at the check-out and all of our items are being scanned through and bagged. I reach into my purse to get my wallet out, and I keep reaching and reaching. It’s not there! Sheepishly I tell Donna that I don’t have my wallet with me and that I can’t buy my groceries. I assure her that this has never happened to me before…as I try to help the boys remain happy and still. Sweetly she asks if I know where it is, and offers to ring up all my stuff. She says I can come right back and get it after I go get my wallet. I was overjoyed at the thought of not having to reshop. So, I drive home praying that my wallet is there-which it was. We drive through McDonalds for some french fries (because now’s it lunch time and the littles are being ever so patient) and a coke, and then back into the Vons to get our groceries. Very sweetly Donna rings up my order, and we chat. She talks with Abe and then the ATM machine won’t work. We stood there for about 10 minutes trying to get the debit thinger to go through. It wasn’t me, the machine just was being difficult. She was totally calm the whole time and the lady behind me was very pleasant about the whole ordeal. So, after all that we thanked them both and got to go home with our food. This lady didn’t have to be so kind and helpful, but she was and I am thankful to the Lord for her. Long story I know, but it was neat-o.
I’m Back!
November 15, 2006So, my little hiatus is over. Ok, not so little. Anywho, now that life is somewhat back to normal I again have some time to muse a bit. So, for now I have nothing of import to say other than I’m baaaaack!
