Good Kid’s Books

December 26, 2005

Hope you had a great Christmas! We had a very nice time with visiting with our families and enjoyed worshipping on Sunday as well. I just wanted to write quickly and share two children’s books that my boys received that are really neat. One of them is called Jimmy’s Lost Bug, by Simon Smith. It is a retelling of The Parable of the Lost Sheep. We enjoyed this simple story, and the illustrations as well. At the end the author quotes Luke 15:4-6 which opens up opportunity to share with your little one about God’s love and care for His sheep.

Tonight we read from Hymns for a Kid’s Heart. It includes a brief bio or story from the hymn writer’s life, and then the hymn. Tonight we sang, “Holy, Holy, Holy!” by Reginald Heber. This neat book also comes with a CD of kids singing the hymns. Abraham loves to hear music, and really enjoyed hearing other kids singing God’s praises. My only hesitation so far is that, “America the Beautiful” is one of the selections. Oh well, other than that it’s great!
